What is Tae Kwon Do?

Literally translated - "the art of the kicking and punching"

TAE KWON DO is a martial art which utilises hands and feet to defend against an unwelcome opponent. The purpose of Tae Kwon Do is to improve a person mentally, physically and spiritually. The physical techniques utilised in Tae Kwon do, strengthen the body and improve co-ordination and timing.

Why Tae Kwon Do?
Tae Kwon Do helps to improve your body as well as your mind. The physical advantages are of increasing your fitness, strength, flexibility, weight control, co-ordination, as well as helping you defend yourself in an unfortunate situation! Some mental aspects consist of a clearer mind, strong sense of confidence, discipline, respect. These mental factors not only apply with Tae Kwon Do, but in everyday life for the rest of your life.

Tae Kwon do is also a great continuation for those who have already done Aerobic Martial Art related classes (like Kick Fit).

At Red Dragon Tae Kwon do, we focus on good aerobic fitness, cardio as well as strength work in our routines. We enter competitions as well as focus on traditional Tae Kwon Do styles as have been practiced for over 2000 years. As a club we are active socially with camps and picnics every year. Tae Kwon Do is a great Martial art with something to offer people of all ages and sizes.
